Google Search Quick Tips
There is no way for anyone to keep up with all the advancements in our digital world. You should feel more at ease for knowing that. Everyone, even the digital expert, uses Google Search multiple times a day to learn and find answers. The most important tip, the one that will be the foundation of anything else on your path to becoming a digital superstar, is that whenever you have a question or issue, try to use Google search to find the answer. Here are a few search tips that will make your life easier.
Ask Google Your Entire Question
Example: What is the best Italian restaurant for Carbonara in Atlanta? As we move toward voice search, Google is undoubtedly refining its algorithm to respond to exact questions. It’s more natural to ask a question than to shout keywords at a person, and Google wants it to be the same way for the future of search.
Use Quotations (" ") Around Exact Phrases You Want Searched
Example: “my favorite Carbonara in Atlanta”Using quotations around a phrase will return only the results with pages that have the exact phrase on their site.
Use minus (-) to refine your search results
Example: Best Spaghetti Carbonara Atlanta -yelp -foursquare -tripadvisorUsing minus can come in handy once you’ve searched for something, but now want to eliminate certain types of results. In the example above, I want search results that exclude the big review sites like Yelp. Google’s support site uses the example jaguar speed -car when you're trying to find the speed of the animal and not the luxury car. There are more search tips, but master these and I'll be sharing more soon. Happy Searching!
