How to find out if you are one of the 143 million people affected by the Equifax hack

A few months ago one of the three main credit reporting agencies, Equifax, was hacked. Information on 143 million users was accessed including names, addresses, social security numbers, drivers license info, and in some of the cases even credit card numbers. To find out if you are affected is a slightly complicated process.Edit: I was linking to an official Equifax page, but it appears they trying to make people sign up for their credit monitoring service only to have them waive their right to a class action lawsuit in the fine print. This thread in the Personal Finance community of Reddit seems to be the most comprehensive summary and includes actionable steps.https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/6yv4gb/official_mega_thread_recent_equifax_security/
